A Private IP address is the one which is not available on the internet, one can only see by accessing the details in the personal computer, tablets, and smartphones wheres as Public IP is an address which is distributed by the internet globally. You can check your public IP address just by putting What is My IP Address in Google or any search browser.
Many people prefer private IP over public IP address. To get the private IP address, they contact the ISP and assign a different address to each of the devices which include Computers, smartphones, and tablets in their house and office. To do this they connect each device to the router and assign the router a public IP via DHCP protocol.
An IP address is the first thing you need if you want to connect your device to the Internet. If your service provider has already done using router service so by default you get a Public IP and your computer gets private IP location. In this article, we will show you how to check your IP location.

To check your public IP location, follow the below steps –
- Go to www.google.com
- Type – What Is My Ip Location
- Click on Search
Once you hit the search button, you will get your Public IP address as shown in below picture.
Or you can go to this website – www.whatismyip.com and check your IP address.
To Check Your Private IP location, Follow The Below Steps –
You can check private IP location by using two methods, one is using Network and Sharing Center Wizard from the control panel and another is using DOS command.
How to Check IP Location Using Network and Sharing Center Wizard from Control Panel.
It is one of the easiest ways to check your private IP location as it doesn’t require any technical skills, you only have to follow the steps and reach your destination.
If you are using Windows, so click on Start Button -> Click on Control Panel -> Click on Network and Internet -> Click on Network And Sharing Center -> Click On The Link in Front of Connections Word.
A Pop-up box will appear, Click on Details.
In another pop-up box, you can see your Private IP Location as marked in the red box area.
How To Check IP Location Using DOS Command.
Click On Start Button -> Open a Search Box-> Type cmd in Search Box-> Right Mouse Click on Start Menu and choose Command Prompt.
By using the above methods you can check your Public as well s Private IP location any time you want.
